Published: February 08, 2021
With a statement on their official website, Manchester United have confirmed that talented striker of Nigerian descent Shola Shoretire has signed a new contract with the club.
Shoretire has inked his first professional contract with the
Red Devils, a reward for his outstanding performance over the last few
seasons.
Although the length of contract has not been disclosed, FIFA regulations on the status and transfers of players state that players under the age of 18 may not sign a contract for a term longer than three years.
The Newcastle native joined Manchester United at the age of nine and rose through the ranks before making his competitive debut for the U18s against West Brom in March 2019.
Shoretire is the youngest Manchester United player to feature in the UEFA Youth League, aged 14 years, 10 months, 10 days when he was introduced off the bench against Valencia on December 12, 2018.
The 17-year-old has scored five goals and registered three assists in thirteen appearances in the Premier League 2 this season.
