Manager Nagelsmann Reveals Ex-Lille Striker Osimhen Was Too Expensive For RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed that the German Bundesliga club were interested in Victor Osimhen last summer but were priced out of a deal for the Nigeria international.
The former Wolfsburg striker was courted by a plethora of elite European clubs after putting himself in the shop window in a breakout season at Lille that saw him score 18 goals in all competitions.
Italian Serie A club Napoli eventually won the race for Osimhen's signature, with the Blues signing him for an initial transfer fee of 70 million euros.
"Victor Osimhen [...] was once in conversation, then he moved from Lille to Naples for over 60 million," Nagelsmann said to Kicker via Fussballtransfers.
"There is a financial policy that we have and all strikers who guarantee a lot of goals cost upwards of 50 million euros. You have to be honest, that was just too much for us."
RB Leipzig went on to sign Norway international Alexander Sörloth after missing out on their number one target Osimhen.
