Fiabema Misses Penalty As Chelsea Are Beaten By Derby County In Premier League 2
Published: February 15, 2021
Bryan Fiabema's missed penalty in the second half meant Chelsea were beaten in a Premier League 2 clash against Derby County at Loughborough University Football Stadium on Monday night.
The Norwegian-born Nigerian striker was named in the starting lineup, while Osazee Aghatise and Festy Ebosele started for the young Rams.
George McEachran stroked home a free-kick to give Chelsea the lead at the break.
The visitors had a chance to double the advantage when the referee awarded them a spot kick after Archie Brown brought down Livramento inside the box in the 54th minute but Fiabema hit the crossbar.
The Blues were made to pay for the missed penalty nine minutes later as Cameron Cresswell prodded home from close range to restore parity.
To make matters worse, Cresswell slotted into an empty net to make it 2-1 following a goalkeeping error three minutes from time.
The lively Ebosele, who went the distance along with his Nigerian teammate, was booked in the 77th minute for a foul on the far side and Fiabema was hauled off in the 87th minute.
