Red-hot Orlando City loanee Daryl Dike scores third goal in four games as Barnsley make history
Published: March 07, 2021American-Nigerian striker Daryl Dike helped Barnsley set a new club record after scoring the game-winning goal in their 1-0 victory over Birmingham City at the Oakwell Stadium on Saturday evening.
The Orlando City loanee is enjoying a rich vein of form in front of goal, with his 49th minute strike being his third goal in four matches in the Championship.
Barnsley have now won seven straight league games since Dike officially joined the club on February 1 - a club record for successive wins.
Three minutes into the second half, Dike smashed a right-footed effort from 20 yards into the top corner, assisted by Carlton Morris.
The 20-year-old opened his account for Barnsley against Stoke City on February 24, before getting on the scoresheet in the penultimate round of matches against Queens Park Rangers.
The Reds have the option of buying Dike permanently from Orlando City for a fee of 20 million dollars for 80% of his rights, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Barnsley have climbed to sixth position in the Championship table with 57 points from 34 matches.
