Manchester United loanee beats Odubeko to West Ham Goal of the Month award
Published: March 16, 2021
Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard has won West Ham United's Goal of the Month award for February 2021, beating Irish-Nigerian attacker Mipo Odubeko and three other players to the accolade.
Goals from Tomáš Souček (v Aston Villa), Ryan
Fredericks (v Sheffield United), and
Sonny Perkins (U17s v Millwall) had been in running for the award, while Odubeko was shortlisted for his effort against Brighton & Hove in the Premier League 2.
Odubeko's delicate chip from just outside the box at the AMEX Elite Football Performance Centre on February 5 was nominated.
The Manchester United academy product is knocking on the Hammers first team door for sure, making eleven matchday squads in all competitions this calendar year.
The 18-year-old has logged 59 minutes for the first team and it came in FA Cup matches against Stockport County and his former club Manchester United.
Odubeko's other goals this season came against Southend United in the EFL Trophy
and Southampton B in the Premier League 2 back in September.
