'Richly deserved' - Ex-Barcelona striker congratulates Iheanacho on winning Premier League POTM
Published: April 03, 2021
Former Barcelona striker Gary Lineker has taken to social media to congratulate Kelechi Iheanacho on winning the Premier League Player of the Month for March 2021.
Leicester City are a club after Lineker's heart as the England legend spent almost a decade at the Foxes during his playing days followed by spells at Everton, Barcelona, Tottenham Hotspur and Nagoya Grampus.
One of eight players in contention for the Premier League Player of the Month, Iheanacho scooped the award, beating the likes of Tottenham's Harry Kane, Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez and Manchester United's Luke Shaw.
Last month, the Nigeria international scored his first hat-trick in the Premier League against Sheffield United in addition to strikes against Burnley and Brighton & Hove.
Leicester City posted on Twitter : "Leicester City striker @67Kelechi’s brilliant form in March has seen him named the Premier League’s EA Sports Player of the Month".
Lineker retweeted the post and commented : "Richly deserved."
Iheanacho is set to be involved in Leicester City's blockbuster clash against his former team Manchester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.
