Ex-Belgium coach : Genk striker Onuachu has what it takes to be a success in EPL, Bundesliga
Published: May 12, 2021
Former Belgium coach René Vandereycken believes Paul Onuachu has all the attributes to be a success in the English Premier League and German Bundesliga.
Onuachu has been outstanding for club and country in 2020-2021, scoring 33 goals in all competitions for Racing Genk and was on target twice in Nigeria's last two 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Logically, the FC Ebedei product is expected to take the next step in his career and join a different club next season.
"Onuachu is a very special type of striker, you can hardly compare him with anyone," Vandereycken said to Het Nieuwsblad via Voetbal Primeur.
"Despite being 2.01 meters, Onuachu is technically strong and fast, and he often succeeds in making the right decision."
He added : "He will also feel that after a season in which he has already scored 33 times, it is the time to take a step higher.
"He must be able to keep up perfectly in the Bundesliga or even the Premier League, as long as he chooses the right club and trainer although we always have to wait and see how a body reacts to a more demanding competition".
Racing Genk are set to make a tidy profit on Onuachu whom they signed from Danish club FC Midtjylland for a fee of six million euros in the summer of 2019.
