Teenage Blackburn Rovers fullback open to representing Nigeria, also eligible for England & USA
Published: July 12, 2021
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that former Manchester United schoolboy Leonard Duru is open to representing the Nigerian national teams if approached by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Born December 2005 in Manchester, the talented defender also qualifies to represent the United States of America and England.
Duru began his footballing journey at the age of six when he joined the Manchester United academy and he hasn't looked back since, moving to Blackburn Rovers as a schoolboy.
A dynamic modern day fullback, his pace and power allows him to beat his man at will and puts him in a good stead for a career at the highest level.
Last season, Duru made his competitive debut for Blackburn Rovers in the U18 Premier League and also debuted in the prestigious FA Youth Cup whilst still a scholar.
The Anglo-American-Nigerian starlet was one of ten promising youngsters that signed two-year scholarship contracts through to June 2023 with Blackburn Rovers this month.
Despite having some interest from the English FA and United States Soccer Federation to link up with their youth squads, Duru is completely open and keen to the idea of representing Nigeria in the future.
