James Debayo's transfer to English Premier League side Leeds United is now in the bag, allnigeriasoccer.com can report.
Leeds United have pulled off a transfer coup by signing the Anglo-Nigerian central defender as he was coveted by several Premier League clubs after opting not to extend his stay at Vicarage Road.
According to the well informed Rising Ballers who initially broke the news of Debayo's imminent move to Leeds United, Debayo had attracted interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton & Hove and Southampton before opting for Leeds United.
Ex-Watford schoolboy Debayo officially put pen to paper on his contract at Leeds United in the presence of his parents, Mr & Mrs Debayo (see photo).
He is among Leeds United new intake of academy scholars for 2021-2022 along with goalkeeper Darryl Ombang, defenders Cuba Cline, Scott Godden and Connor Ferguson, midfielders Jay Buchan and Cian Coleman, attackers Ronnie McGrath, Ben Andreucci and Luca Thomas.
Debayo's scholarship deal with Leeds United will keep him at the club until at least the end of the 2022-2023 season.
