Nigeria-eligible defender opens goalscoring account for Tottenham Hotspur Youth
Published: September 18, 2021
Nigeria-eligible defender Tobi Omole opened his goalscoring account for Tottenham Hotspur youth teams as the north London club played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Blackburn Rovers U23s in the Premier League 2 on Friday night.
The former Arsenal starlet is on the periphery of Tottenham Hotspur's first team having trained with the squad on countless occasions in the new season and was included in the matchday squad in recent matches with Crystal Palace and Rennes.
Spurs squandered a chance to hold a two-goal lead in the first half as Johnson and McBride cancelled out strikes from John and White.
Omole celebrated his first goal in Tottenham Hotspur's colours after tapping home with almost the last kick of the first half.
The 21-year-old gifted Rovers an equaliser when he put the ball into his own net midway through the second half.
A signing from Arsenal last October, Omole netted his first goal for Spurs youth teams in his 24th game for the club in all competitions comprising 23 in the Premier League 2 and one in the Papa John's Trophy.
It remains to be seen if he is selected in the matchday squad for Tottenham's Premier League meeting with Chelsea on Sunday, September 19 after going the distance against Rovers U23s.
