Hoogewerf misses out to Brazilian left-back for Manchester United's Goal of the Month prize
Dutch-Nigerian winger Dillon Hoogewerf has missed out on Manchester United's Goal of the Month award for September 2021.

Manchester United have confirmed that Brazilian left-back Alex Telles has claimed the Goal of the Month accolade for his sensational volley against Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League.

Hoogewerf was shortlisted for his effort in an EFL Trophy clash against League Two club Bradford City on September 21.

Other nominees were Cristiano Ronaldo, Jesse Lingard, Ona Batlle, Bruno Fernandes, Ella Toone, Alejandro Garnacho, Zidane Iqbal and Manni Norkett.

After coming off the bench at half-time, the Netherlands youth teamer burst through and finished superbly past the Bradford goalkeeper after collecting a pass from Shola Shoretire in the 82nd minute.

Hoogewerf also made the shortlist for United's Goal of the Month for February 2020 and May 2021 but was beaten to the prize by first team stars Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani respectively.

Since joining United from Ajax Amsterdam in the summer of 2019, Hoogewerf has scored 17 goals combined in the U18 Premeir League and Premier League 2.
