Patrick Vieira provides fitness update on Super Eagles target pre-Arsenal
Published: October 15, 2021
Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has delivered a fitness update on Super Eagles target Eberechi Eze ahead of his side's Premier League meeting with Arsenal on Monday night.
The former England youth international sustained an Achilles injury in training at the back end of the 2020-2021 season and has not featured for Palace this term.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel for Eze as he is making a speedy recovery having participated in some parts of training with the first team in recent days.
The initial prognosis after his surgery had suggested that he could be out of action until 2022.
Eze's transfer to Crystal Palace from Queens Park Rangers last summer turned
into the fairytale that it promised, with the attacking midfielder
impressing in his first season in the Premier League, scoring four times
and setting up six goals in 34 top-flight games.
"He has started taking some part in collective training, but again we don’t want to put any kind of pressure on him or any kind of date on when he will be ready.
"He is doing well, and we just have to evaluate how he is feeling week after week. We won’t set any kind of date on his return."

In his formative years as a footballer, Eze was a schoolboy at Arsenal and was released by the north London club at the age of thirteen.
