Bayern ahead of Liverpool in race for Adeyemi as striker's Nigerian dad visits Munich
Published: October 17, 2021
Bayern Munich are ahead of Liverpool in the race for the signature of Germany international striker Karim Adeyemi.
Born to a Nigerian father and Romanian mother, the 19-year-old Adeyemi is one game away from being cap-tied to European giants Germany for life after making his third competitive appearance for his country of birth in a 2022 World Cup qualifier against North Macedonia this month.
According to Sportbuzzer making reference to Sky Germany, Karim's agent Thomas Solomon and his father Abbey Adeyemi were on Säbener Strasse on Saturday for transfer talks with Bayern Munich.
Unterhaching's club president Manfred Schwabl is of the opinion that Adeyemi moving to Bayern Munich is a possibility.
"I was informed about the visit and of course a possible change was an issue. I don't know whether it is the right step for Bayern or for Karim," said Schwabl at Bild TV.
"It is often dangerous to take the third step before the second. It will be exciting weeks now.
"With his style of play, Karim would also be a great fit for Dortmund, for Leipzig because of the group.
"At that age, it shouldn't be about money, the sporting perspective is more important."
Adeyemi reportedly prefers a move to the Bundesliga ahead of the Premier League and is valued in the region of 30-40 million euros by Red Bull Salzburg.
His Nigerian father, Abbey was a footballer but couldn't play professionally when he relocated to Germany due to his age.
