Photo Confirmation : Very talented central defender inks new deal with Chelsea
Published: November 01, 2021Very talented young central defender Alfie Gilchrist has taken to social media to announce that he has signed a new deal with Premier League giants Chelsea.
The 2003-born youngster is one the most highly rated players in the Chelsea academy, winning the Scholar of the Year in 2021.
The right-footed center back has been on the books of Chelsea since U11 level after he was poached from fellow London club Queens Park Rangers.
Gilchrist signed his first professional contract with Chelsea in November 2020, few months after putting pen to paper on scholarship forms.
"Happy to have signed my new contract with @chelseafc hard work continues," Gilchrsit posted on Instagram on Sunday.
Born in Kingston, England, the 17-year-old began his career at Old Isleworthians and has cited Chelsea legend John Terry as his role model.
In the current season, Gilchrist has appeared for Chelsea youth teams in the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, EFL Trophy and UEFA Youth League.
