Former Celtic striker backs Rangers' Nigeria star to seal transfer to the English Premier League
Published: November 01, 2021
Former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie is backing Joe Aribo to seal a transfer to the English Premier League as from the January transfer window.
Crystal Palace have been credited with an interest in the versatile Glasgow Rangers midfielder who is valued in the region of ten million pounds by the Scottish Premiership champions.
The Eagles could be in the market for a midfielder as a potential replacement for Chelsea-owned player Conor Gallagher whose loan deal expires at the end of the 2021-2022 campaign.
Aribo has the ambition of playing in the Premier League and a move across the border is definitely on the cards in the near future following a string of fine displays for Rangers in the last couple of seasons.
One thing that the Super Eagles star has going for him is his versatility with the ability to play as a defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, winger and a makeshift fullback.
McAvennie told Foootball Insider : "I think he’s gone up a level this season. He seems to be a vital player for Rangers now.
"He’s very versatile and that would serve him well in the Premier League.
"I have said this for years, if an offer from the Premier League comes in, you take it.
"It doesn’t matter who it is, it’s change your life money. No disrespect to Rangers, that’s just the way it is.
"Is he good enough for the Premier League? That’s a different question.Let’s see what happens in January."
