Arsenal first team manager Mikel Arteta has reportedly been running the rule over Nigeria-eligible striker Henry Timi Davies during the international break.

Arsenal youth team expert Jeorge Bird writes on his website that the Spanish football tactician has drafted several first-year scholars into first team training, including the Anglo-Nigerian teenager.

Arteta is checking out the talented youngsters with a host of first team players on international duty with their respective nations.

Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel, Bernd Leno, Kieran Tierney, Martin Odegaard, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Sambi Lokonga, Mohamed Elneny and Sead Kolasinac were named in senior international squads, while Folarin Balogun and Nuno Tavares were included in the U21s for European Championship qualifiers.

Former Manchester City schoolboy Timi Davies signed scholarship forms with Arsenal in the summer, turning down overtures from London rivals Chelsea in the process.

The 2004-born player is expected to sign a professional contract with the Gunners as from November 27 when he turns seventeen.

Timi Davies has been included in three matchday squads in the U18 Premier League without tasting action but featured for the age group in a Premier League Cup clash against West Ham United in September.
