Dennis joins Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Aston Villa, Man City stars in Garth Crooks' TOTW
Published: November 22, 2021
Former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur striker turned BBC pundit, Garth Crooks has selected his Premier League Team of the Week, with Watford star Emmanuel Dennis making the cut as expected.
Dennis was the star of the show as Watford grabbed their first home win under Claudio Ranieri, humiliating Manchester United 4-1 at Vicarage Road with the Nigeria international involved in three goals (1 goal, 2 assists).
Crooks has gone for Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa) in goal and a three-man defence containing Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Antonio Rudiger (Chelsea), Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa).
The midfield is made up of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Tottenham), N'Golo Kante (Chelsea), Rodri (Manchester City), Tom Cleverley (Watford).
The three-man attack has Raheem Sterling as the center forward and the Manchester City star is flanked by Dennis and Liverpool's Senegal international Sadio Mane.
In his BBC Sport column, Crooks noted that Dennis 'might be as big a star in the Africa Cup of Nations for Nigeria in January as he was against United'.
The Nigeria national teamer is averaging a goal or assist every 93 minutes, the fourth best ratio among Premier League players with 500 or more minutes played, behind Mohamed Salah (every 60), Reece James (every 69) and Paul Pogba (every 90).
