Eze made his season debut 195 days after his last appearance in the top-flight, against today's opponents Aston Villa on May 16, 2021.
Another Super Eagles target Michael Olise started and was in action for 87 minutes before making way for Jordan Ayew.
Matt Targett and John McGinn got the goals in Steven Gerrard's second game in charge of Aston Villa, while Marc Guehi pulled a goal back for the Eagles with almost the last kick of the game.
