How Man Utd young star Shoretire reacted after Champions League debut vs Young Boys
Published: December 09, 2021
Manchester United attacking midfielder Shola Shoretire took to social media to share his happiness after making his UEFA Champions League debut against Young Boys at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The England U19 international of Nigerian descent came on as a 67th minute substitute to replace Amad.
Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick took advantage of the fact that his side were already through as Group F winners even before a ball was kicked and handed debuts to seven academy graduates including Shoretire.
Another academy graduate and an established member of the first team, Mason Greenwood opened the scoring with nine minutes played, but Fabian Rieder leveled before half time.
Shoretire made his second appearance in European competition against Young Boys, 286 days after making his Europa League bow off the bench in a goalless draw vs Real Sociedad.
"Champions League nights at Old Trafford," Shoretire stated on Instagram.
Several players of Nigerian descent including Joseph Olowu, Mipo Odubeko, Max Oyedele and Tai Sodje reacted to Shoretire's post, congratulating the 17-year-old on making his Champions League debut.
