Stoke City, Blackburn, Birmingham City interested in Super Eagles striker ahead of deadline day
Published: January 29, 2022Championship outfit Stoke City are reportedly eager to bolster their attacking options before the close of the January transfer window with the signing of Super Eagles striker Josh Maja.
The Daily Mail says The Potters are closing in on a loan deal for Maja as manager Michael O'Neill hopes the Sunderland academy product can fire his team to promotion but they are facing competition for his services.
French sports daily L'Equipe has also reported that Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Venezia, Alaves and two unnamed Major League Soccer clubs are interested in the 23-year-old.
The Anglo-Nigerian has returned to fitness after missing the first four months of the season due to a back issue and was involved in the last two games played by Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1, albeit as a substitute.
Maja wants a return to England, where he netted three goals in fifteen appearances whilst on loan at Fulham in the second half of last season.
Bordeaux have already parted company with another Nigeria internationalist in the winter transfer market with Samuel Kalu joining Watford in a permanent deal earlier this week.
Maja has a contract with Bordeaux until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
