FA Cup : Olise with most goal involvements in competition after assist in Eagles' 4-0 rout of Everton
Published: March 20, 2022Crystal Palace scored two goals either side of halftime to thrash Everton and book their place in the semifinals of the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
Former Super Eagles invitees Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise started for Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park while Tayo Adaramola and David Omilabu were left out of the matchday squad though they were involved in the team's final workout before the visit of the Toffees.
This time there was no heroics for Alex Iwobi, who scored a last-gasp winner vs Newcastle United, after he came off the bench in the 73rd minute to replace Seamus Coleman.
Crystal Palace broke the deadlock when Guehi headed in from six yards from a brilliant corner by Olise in the 25th minute.
The Anglo-French-Nigerian-Algerian winger took his goal involvement to five (2 goals, 3 assists) from four appearances with his assist for Palace's opening goal, the most of any player in the competition, according to the statisticians at OPTA.
Olise's eight assists in all competitions this season are the joint-most of any Premier League player aged 21 or under, alongside Phil Foden.
Crystal Palace's other scorers in the comprehensive win against Everton were Jean-Philippe Mateta, Wilfried Zaha and Will Hughes.
