Four takeaways from Flying Eagles' impressive campaign at WABU B U20 Championship
Published: May 20, 2022
Ladan Bosso led a talented team of youngsters to clinch the WAFU U-20 Sub regional tournament.
Below are the takeaways from their campaign.
1. Team needs to be kept together
Most successful young teams were products of long term planning. It will be wise to keep majority of these players. They have showed great promise.
2. Attacking Force But Defensive Lapses
The Flying Eagles attack is razor sharp as they have proven to be incisive.
However, there are defensive frailties that need to be ironed out. The goals conceded Benin and Burkina Faso were avoidable ones.
3. Dead ball specialists
Head coach Ladan Bosso and his assistants need to have at least four dead ball specialists - four great free kick takers with their left and right feet respectively.
4. Nigeria Support For The Eagles
It was a good scene as there were pockets of Nigerian fans in Niamey. The bands and trumpets perhaps need to be more.
The presence of the supporters club at major tournaments like seen in the past decades are not the same of late due to different factions of the Nigeria Football and Other Sports Supporters Club.
