'I'll like to sit down with the manager' - Nigeria-eligible striker addresses his future at Arsenal
Published: June 08, 2022Nigeria-eligible attacker Folarin Balogun has refused to commit his long term future to the Gunners until he speaks with manager Mikel Arteta.
He made an impressive impact in the English Championship while on loan at Middlesbrough in the second half of last season, scoring three goals and registering three assists in 18 appearances.
The 20-year-old striker netted a brace as the Young Lions thrashed Albania 3-0 in an U21 EURO qualifier on Tuesday, helping the Young Lions of England qualify for next year's tournament in Romania and Georgia.
After rising through the Hale End ranks, Balogun left the Emirates Stadium for the first time in his career in search of regular game-time in January.
Balogun feels he should be playing regularly at the highest level, be it at Arsenal or elsewhere.
"When I get back to Arsenal I will like to sit down with the manager and see what he thinks and we will decide what is best," Balogun told talkSPORT via Mirror.
"I know that everyone will like to know what I will do next but I would like to speak to him first and we can come to a conclusion."
If Balogun decides to pursue a move away from the club, Arteta may be left with a short supply of options up front as Alexandre Lacazette is set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this month.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left in January for Barcelona and Eddie Nketiah is also out of contract this summer.
