Arsenal, Tottenham or Newcastle: Which club suits Victor Osimhen's abilities best?

Victor Osimhen has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

The Nigerian is currently one of the hottest properties in the transfer market and his club Napoli have reportedly slapped a 100 million euros price tag on the former Lille striker.

With the above-named clubs being linked with the Nigerian hitman, allnigeriasoccer.com analyses which team would best suit his qualities and recommend which move would be most advantageous to his growth and style of play. First, let us take a look at Osimhen's style of play.

Osimhen is an intense presser. He loves to run at defenders and drag them wide with his diagonal and split movements.

His box-play is not as good as great but at 23 years old, there is still a lot of time to improve on that. His technique is also top-notch and he is excellent in aerial battles.

According to fotmob statistics, in the Serie A, Osimhen had a shot conversation rate of 10.9% and only missed 6 big chances scoring 18 goals in 32 appearances.

With his clinical finishing, Osimhen fits in a team that dominates the ball and provides him goalscoring opportunities.

Having checked out Osimhen's game style, let's take a look at the playing styles of the teams he has been linked with.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta practices a 4-3-3 Juego de Posicion setup. This tactic is heavily reliant on creative wingers who can create in isolation situations against full-backs.

With Saka as the primary creator and the likes of Smith Rowe, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli as secondary creators.

Arsenal create a lot of chances which were not taken advantage of due to a lack of a proper striker.

The 4-3-3 set-up aims at creating an overload on one side of the pitch to lure the opposition in before the ball is switched quickly to the other side to create isolation.

Tottenham Hotspur

Antonio Conte practices a traditional 3-5-2 formation which metamorphoses into a 3-4-2-1 on the attack. However, the Italian has augmented automatism in his set-up which are applied in different on-pitch situations by his players.

One automatism is the dropping off of Harry Kane into the midfield or half-spaces to release Son or Kulusevski into large areas of space or isolations with opposition full-backs.

Newcastle United

With the new influx of cash from their new Arab owners, Newcastle is an emerging force to reckon with.

With players like Allan Saint-Maximin, Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier, former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has created an extremely attacking 4-3-3 set-up at the club.

Eddie Howe's 4-3-3 is however not based on Jeugo De Posición as it is extremely free with players being able to interchange frequently.

While Tottenham Hotspur is an attractive proposition due to their participation in next season's UEFA Champions League while Arsenal plays in the Europa League, allnigeriasoccer.com recommends that Victor Osimhen joins Arsenal if they choose to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta is a brilliant manager and Arsenal is already 2½ years into their squad rebuild which means more foundations have already been laid.

Osimhen will find joy playing in a modern 4-3-3 setup in an expansive tactical style with the likes of Saka, Smith Rowe, Martinelli and very soon Fabio Vieira providing him with the ammunition he needs to score goals.

However, a second good choice would be Tottenham as Antonio Conte is a highly experienced coach who could do wonders with Osimhen's abilities as he did with Romelu Lukaku, although the Nigerian would have to be willing to adapt to a more pragmatic approach.
