Tottenham sign Brighton's Yves Bissouma
Published: June 21, 2022Tottenham have convinced Yves Bissouma to join the Antonio Conte rebuild. Spurs will pay 25 GBP with 10 GBP in add-ons to Brighton. The defensive midfielder joins Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster as Conte’s summer additions as he builds a squad to compete on all fronts next season. In this sense, wagering fans working on their strategies must note what is happening at Tottenham. Meanwhile, Bissouma has signed a four-year deal with Spurs once he is granted a work permit.
Reports suggest that Bissouma flew to the UK and stayed at a hotel on Tottenham’s training ground. He had only one year left on his contract with Brighton, so Brighton had to cash in on him to avoid losing him for free next summer.
Other top EPL clubs like Everton, Aston Villa, and Arsenal were also interested in signing the talented midfielder. Initially, Brighton rejected a bid from Aston Villa in the winter transfer window. Tottenham has had an interest in the midfielder for a while. They first started watching him when he was at Lille and was among the midfielders they wanted to sign as Mousa Dembele’s replacement in 2018.
However, Spurs went for Tanguy Ndombele in a club-record transfer from Lyon. On the other hand, Bissouma moved to Brighton in a 15 GBP deal where he has played 124 matches. According to Opta, the midfielder has a pass accuracy of 89% and completes 3.2 tackles per 90 and 2.1 interceptions per 90. He also provided two assists for his teammates last season. These numbers show that Bissouma made more interceptions and tackles per 90 than any Spurs player last season.
Conte was Impressed
Reports claim that Antonio Conte was impressed by Bissouma’s performance in the match between Spurs and The Seagulls last season. However, Conte is not done yet. He is hoping that Daniel Levi will help him land three other players before the window closes.
For example, they are interested in Middlesbrough’s right wing-back Spence, a left-footed center-back, and a versatile forward. Some of the names being mentioned include Richarlison and Pau Torres. If Tottenham can land their targets, they’ll be a force to reckon with in the 2022/23 season.
In Conte, they have an experienced coach who knows how to win, having won the EPL title with Chelsea. Therefore, other teams should be wary of what Conte is doing at Spurs. Do you think Tottenham can be serious title contenders this coming season?
