Published: August 04, 2022
Following an initial announcement on Tuesday that an agreement had been reached on a permanent move, the Blues have officially announced the signing of Anglo-Austrian-Nigerian wonderkid Carney Chukwuemeka from Premier League rivals Aston Villa through their official website.
Having passed his medical, Chukwuemeka put pen to paper on a six-year contract with The Blues, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until June 30, 2028.
Chukwuemeka was courted by several European powerhouses but has opted to continue his development at Chelsea.
The England U19 international helped the Young Lions win the 2022 European U19 Championship, delivering stellar performances which culminated in three goals and two assists to his name.
In his first words as a player of Chelsea, Chukwuemeka stated : "It’s been quite hectic but I couldn’t get Chelsea out of my head the last few days so I’m just happy and relieved that it’s all done.
"I’m so excited and just can’t wait to get on the pitch, meet all the players and try to win games and trophies with Chelsea".
The rampaging midfielder made his Premier League debut against Tottenham Hotspur in May 2021.
The 18-year-old Chukwuemeka leaves Villa Park with sixteen first-team appearances to his name, including three starts.
