Sporting Kansas City's Nigerian forward named in MLS Team of the Week
Published: August 24, 2022
After an impressive performance for Sporting Kansas City in a 4-1 rout of Portland Timbers, Nigerian-born striker William Agada has been named to the Week 26 Major League Soccer Team of the Week.
It's his second inclusion in the MLS Team of the Week following his transfer from Israeli side Hapoel Jerusalem in June 2022.
Agada got the win started by bagging the first goal scored by Sporting Kansas in the 31st minute, provided the assist for his team's third goal three minutes before halftime and then netted his fifth goal in American football in the 75th minute.
In a 4-3-3 formation, the Nigerian was partnered in attack by Julian Carranza (Philadelphia Union) and Romell Quioto (CF Montreal).

With his brace against Portland Timbers, Agada became the second player in the history of Sporting Kansas City to score five goals in the span of three regular season appearances, following in the footsteps of Eddie Johnson who achieved the feat in 2007.
The 22-year-old is the third player to score five goals in his first five games for the club, after Felipe Gutierrez in 2018 and Miklos Molnar in 2000.
Agada opened his goalscoring account in Major League Soccer against Los Angeles on August 7 and a week later found the net in a 4-3 loss to Austin.
