Everton make late move to sign Nigeria's 2015 U17 World Cup-winning winger
Published: August 31, 2022Everton are interested in signing 2015 U17 World Cup-winning winger with the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, Samuel Chukwueze.
According to Spanish sports daily AS and Sky Sports UK, the Toffees are showing an interest in Chukwueze and Villarreal are open to negotiations.
It is claimed that discussions have started between the Premier League and La Liga clubs, with Everton keen to add to their attacking options before the transfer window closes on Thursday, September 1.
Everton, coached by the legendary Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard, have not started the season in the best possible way with three points from their opening five matches.
Of the teams in the top sixteen of the standings, only Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa have scored fewer goals than the Goodison Park outfit.
Chukwueze has a release clause of 80 million euros, putting Villarreal in a strong position to negotiate.
The 23-year-old has registered 25 goals and 22 assists in 162 all-competition appearances for the Yellow Submarine.
