Two Nigeria-eligible players named in Arsenal's Europa League squad
Published: September 07, 2022
Two Nigeria-eligible players have been included in Arsenal's squad list for the group stage of the UEFA Europa League.
The official website of UEFA has published the Gunners roster for the group stage of the Europa League ahead of their opening match in Group A against FC Zurich at the Arena St. Gallen on Thursday evening.
Young professionals Zach Awe and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji have been picked by manager Mikel Arteta.
A winger by trade, Butler-Oyedeji has been allocated the number 43 jersey for the Europa League, while central defender Awe will wear the number 38.
The two Anglo-Nigerian teenagers have been named on the List B.
A player is eligible to be registered on List B if he is born on, or after, 1 January 2001 and has been eligible to play for the club concerned for any uninterrupted period of two years since his 15th birthday by the time he is registered with UEFA.
Awe has received one call-up for a first team game, against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League in February 2022, while Butler-Oyedeji has not been named in any matchday squad to date.
The two players are key members of Arsenal's development squad who are unbeaten in the new season and top the Premier League 2 table with thirteen points from five matches.
