Man Utd 0 Real Sociedad 1 : Sadiq helps La Liga side record first-ever win v English club

Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq was deployed in attack alongside Japanese youngster Kubo in Real Sociedad's 1-0 win over Manchester United at the Old Trafford in their Europa League clash on Thursday night.
Tonight's win was Real Sociedad's first-ever victory against English opposition in European club competition
These sides met in the Europa League knock-out stage in the 2020-2021 season with United running out 4-0 winners on aggregate.
Manchester United started strongly on the offensive with left back Tyrell Malacia with a shot on goal within two minutes after he was Ted up by Christian Eriksen.
United’s Antony tried a through ball, but Cristiano Ronaldo was caught offside with 16 minutes played in the game.
Umar came close to scoring for Sociedad in the 38th minute but saw his left footed strike blocked.
The Nigerian made eight successful passes which 75% accurate.
At the break, Alexander Sørloth replaced Umar Sadiq who scored on his Real Sociedad debut last weekend.
United attempted to assert themselves but it was Sociedad that went into ascendancy.
Brais Méndez converted a penalty for Real Sociedad with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner to put the La Liga side ahead in the 59th minute.
Cristiano Ronaldo was particularly left frustrated with the resolute defending by the visitors and had multiple scoring chances denied.
