Chukwueze back in training with Villarreal after withdrawing from Nigeria's September games
Published: September 29, 2022
Samuel Chukwueze is back in training with La Liga outfit Villarreal ahead of their upcoming game against Cadiz, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup-winning winger withdrew from the Nigeria squad for their friendlies with the Algerian national teams, citing injury.
In truth, Chukwueze had been struggling with a minor muscle-related problem prior to the international break and it was best for him to pull out of the Super Eagles squad in order not to aggravate the injury.
The Super Eagles star participated in full training during Wednesday's workout at Ciutat Esportiva de Miralcamp, under the guidance of manager Unai Emery, which puts him in contention to be involved in some capacity against Cadiz on October 1.
This season, Chukwueze has been given minutes in every single game played by Villarreal, ten in total, starting half of the matches.
The 23-year-old has had a brilliant start to the 2022-2023 season with five goal involvements (2 goals, 3 assists ) in ten all-competition appearances.
After six games in the Spanish top flight, the Yellow Submarine occupy sixth place with eleven points accumulated.
