Manchester United boss Ten Hag reveals what he told Uzoho after the game
Published: October 14, 2022Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed what he said to Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho shortly after Thursday night's Europa League clash at Old Trafford.
According to Manchester Evening News, Omonia's British coach Neil Lennon brought Uzoho to the post-match press conference and at the end of the media briefing , Ten Hag was waiting outside, readying himself to face the assembled media.
Uzoho, a self-confessed Manchester United fan, asked Ten Hag for a photograph and the Dutchman obliged.
The Nigeria international made saves after saves after saves to frustrate Manchester United, denying the likes of Marcus Rashford, Cristiano Ronaldo, Casemiro and Antony on multiple occasions.
In the third minute of stoppage time, Scott McTominay netted the game-winning goal as he controlled the ball in the box, kept his head down, and slotted into the bottom corner from close range after good work down the left from Jadon Sancho.
Ten Hag acknowledged that Uzoho produced a top-drawer performance against his team.
On what he told Uzoho, Ten Hag said : "I said 'well done'. He had many, many saves, so many clear goals were not in, so we kept them in the game."
Uzoho only found himself in the starting lineup against Manchester United only because first-choice goalkeeper Fabiano suffered a shoulder injury in a league game a day before the squad traveled to England.
