Brentford's Super Eagles midfielder bags first EPL assist after logging 1,198 minutes
Published: October 15, 2022
Super Eagles central midfielder Frank Onyeka bagged his first ever assist in the English Premier League as Brentford returned to winning ways by beating Brighton & Hove 2-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium on Friday night.
In his first start of the 2022-2023 season, Onyeka set up Brentford's opening goal netted by Ivan Toney in the 27th minute.
Onyeka's cutback from the byline was finished beautifully with a backheel from the Brentford number 17.
Before the Bees' first goal, they threatened to score early but Onyeka sent his header over the bar from eight yards out after an inviting cross into the box from Toney.
Toney dusted himself down and converted a penalty he had won to double Brentford's advantage in the 64th minute.
The FC Ebedei product totaled 1,198 minutes on the pitch spread across twenty seven matches before providing his first assist in the Premier League.
With his substitution in the 71st minute against the Seagulls, it meant he has yet to go the distance in a Premier League game since November 28, 2021 against Everton.
