'They’ve been doing it really well' - Crystal Palace boss commends two ex-Super Eagles invitees
Published: October 15, 2022Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has commended two former Super Eagles invitees in Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise for the job they have been doing for the team when they are out of possession.
The legendary Arsenal defensive midfielder has been able to accommodate the two attack-minded Anglo-Nigerian players in his starting lineup in the last two games played by Palace in the Premier League against Chelsea and Leeds United.
Eze and Olise played key roles in Crystal Palace's 2-1 win over Leeds United, with the former Arsenal schoolboy netting the game-winning goal and the ex-Chelsea youth teamer providing an assist for the equaliser.
Elaborating on the instructions given to the pair, Vieira told the official website of Crystal Palace : "t’s always the question mark about if those two players, regarding their quality, can do the job out of possession.
"They’ve been doing it really well and that gives me an option of course because Michael feels really comfortable inside or outside and that’s really good for me as a man. Knowing he can play inside, I still believe his best position today is as a right-winger."
Olise was called up to the Super Eagles squad for two Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches in March 2021 but did not honour the invitation, while Eze trained with the national team in London in 2017 before a canceled friendly against Burkina Faso.
Crystal Palace face an out-of-form Leicester City team in a Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, lunchtime kickoff.
