Tottenham-owned fullback of Nigerian descent makes final shortlist for Golden Boy
Published: October 15, 2022
Tottenham Hotspur-owned fullback of Nigerian descent Destiny Udogie remains in the race to be crowned the Golden Boy for 2022.
The Udinese defender and nineteen other talented youngsters have made it to the final round after eighty candidates were eliminated.
The Golden Boy is presented by Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport to the best player under the age of 21.
Apart from Udogie, the other players of Nigerian descent included in the final contenders for the Golden Boy are cap-tied Germany internationals Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich) and Karim Adeyemi (Borussia Dortmund).
Udogie is aiming to become the first Nigeria-eligible player to win the Golden Boy since it was created in 2003.
Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid), Gavi (FC Barcelona) and Musiala are among the favorites to win the 2022 Golden Boy.
The award ceremony will take place on November 7, 2022 in Turin.
Udogie joined Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window but was immediately loaned to Udinese to continue his development.
The 19-year-old has scored twice in eight Serie A appearances for the Bianconeri this season.
