UYL : Ajayi on target for Tottenham Hotspur in 3-2 win against Marseille
Published: November 01, 2022Tottenham Hotspur bowed out of the UEFA Youth League with a good performance, beating Marseille 3-2 at the Stade Paul Le Cesne on Tuesday evening.
Spurs U19 boss Wayne Burnett handed minutes to two Nigeria-eligible players off the bench, with Damola Ajayi coming on in the 60th minute and Callum Olusesi joining him on the pitch eleven minutes later.
The north London club led 2-1 at the interval as Alfie Devine restored their one-goal lead after Aylan Benyahia-Tani canceled out Romaine Mundle's early opener.
Ajayi continued his good start to the season, netting Tottenham Hotspur's third goal six minutes after his introduction before
Gaël Lafont struck in the 90th minute which proved to be the final goal of the game.
The promising teenager signed scholarship forms in the summer and has appeared for the Lilywhites in the U18 Premier League, Papa Johns Trophy and Premier League 2 while making four appearances as a substitute in the UEFA Youth League this season.
Ajayi's other goals this season came against Arsenal and Aston Villa in the U18 Premier League.
