'I guess he'll be okay' - QPR boss provides injury update on Super Eagles CB

Nigeria may have received an injury boost ahead of the glamour friendly with the Selecao of Portugal next Thursday, the national team's final international fixture in 2022.

The injury suffered by Leon Balogun in the 2-1 loss to Huddersfield Town on Tuesday is not as bad as first feared, with Queens Park Rangers manager Mick Beale revealing that the central defender is in the frame to make the squad for the weekend trip to Coventry City, subject to him passing a fitness test.

Against the Terriers, the 34-year-old had to make way for Jimmy Dune at halftime due to a minor calf injury.

"Leon will be touch-and-go but I guess he will be okay,"  QPR coach Mick Beale said when asked to reveal the team news for the weekend.

Nigeria will take on Fernando Santos-led Portugal at Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon on November 17th, 2022.

Balogun has appearaed in 12 games in the Sky Bet Championship this season, scoring one goal and receiving three yellow cards.

The former Rangers man has played one game under Jose Peseiro, coming off the bench for the last nineteen minutes of a 10-0 hammering of São Tomé and Príncipe in an AFCON qualifier back in June.
