Football lovers across Nigeria have heaped praises on Chelsea and Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy over his performance in Senegal's win over Qatar.
The Teranga Lions of Senegal were 3-1 winners over hosts Qatar in a group A matchday two encounter played at the Al Thumama Stadium on Friday.
Boulaye Dia drew the first blood four minutes before the end of the first half as he scored Senegal's first goal of the tournament.
The lead was extended to two in the 48th minute as Famara Diedhiou combined with Ismail Jakobs.
The hosts however reduced the deficit as Ghanaian-born Mohammed Muntari powered home the ball in the 78th minute.
Bamba Dieng went on to seal the win for the African champions in the 84th minute with a well placed right footed shot.
Majority of Nigerian fans heaped praises on Mendy for an improved performance, while some fans were dissatisfied with the Senegalese goalkeeper after he failed to post a shutout against the Asians.
