Watford provide injury update on Super Eagles star ahead of Hull City match
Published: December 09, 2022Watford have provided an injury update on Super Eagles star Samuel Kalu ahead of Sunday's Championship clash against Hull City at Vicarage Road.
The Hornets have lifted the lid on the condition of the former Bordeaux winger, saying that he played through the pain barrier before the World Cup break after suffering an injury against Wigan Athletic.
Kalu has struggled with injuries this season, logging a paltry 151 minutes spread across six games in the second tier of English football.
The 25-year-old has not been involved in sixteen games played by Watford in 2022-2023, largely due to fitness issues.
Watford have suggested that manager Slaven Bilić will not be able to count on the services of Kalu for the visit of the Tigers.
"Picking up an ankle injury against Wigan Athletic in October and playing through pain leading up to the break in fixtures, Samuel Kalu has been recovering over the last month," Watford wrote on their official webpage.
"The Nigerian forward needs more time before a return to action."
Watford are sitting fourth in the Championship table with 33 points accumulated from twenty one matches.
