Nigeria's Technical Director Eguavoen leaves Selhurst Park without scouting Fulham CB

Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Augustine Eguavoen was in attendance at Selhurst Park on Boxing Day as Crystal Palace were thrashed 3-0 by Fulham in their first match after the World Cup break.

Eguavoen attended the game on the invitation of Tosin Adarabioyo and his brother Gbolahan, who is also the central defender's intermediary.

However, it was mission unaccomplished for the Super Eagles legend as he could not run the rule over Tosin, who was an unused substitute against Crystal Palace.

The Manchester City academy product has found playing opportunities hard to come by of late, logging only ninety minutes from a possible 630 in the English Premier League.

The Nigeria coaches and NFF scouts are scouring Europe for a reliable central defender as Leon Balogun (34), William Troost-Ekong (29) and Kenneth Omeruo (29) are not getting any younger in football terms.

Earlier this year, Adarabioyo was sounded about the possibility of representing Nigeria but his response was lukewarm as he was hoping to force his way into the England squad.

Another player of interest to the Nigerian Federation, former Golden Eaglets invitee Malcolm Ebiowei, also did not come off the bench in yesterday's London derby.

Former Super Eagles invitees Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze, whose allegiances are with France and England respectively as of now, started for Crystal Palace against the Cottagers.
