Former Nigeria's Vice President, and flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party ahead of the 2023 presidential election Atiku Abubakar on Sunday evening expressed elation at the 2-0 win of Arsenal over Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby.
The Waziri of Adamawa is an avid supporter of Arsenal and was once seen in the executive box watching a live game at the Emirates Stadium.
Atiku took to his verified Twitter handle on Sunday to react to Arsenal's victory which sees the Gunners extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points of second placed Manchester City and nine above Manchester United.
"Nice win, @Arsenal! -AA. #TOTARS," came the tweet by the onetime Nigeria Customs officer.
That elicited comments from his followers including one that believes that he will not win the presidential election.
The tweet from Mgbadike 1 of Enugu read: "Unfortunately, unlike Arsenal, you won't win the presidency"
Atiku, who has run for the country's seat several times, however had his supporters who called him their" president."
A Twitter user, Adetola simply said:" same way you will be winning next month."
Apart from Adetola, a couple of other respondents expressed their support for Atiku with one affirming that he will start supporting the club because of him.
Mikel Arteta and his team will next play Manchester United in the Premier League.
