Man Utd's striker search : Osimhen rated third contender behind Spurs' Kane, Salzburg's Sesko
Published: January 21, 2023
Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen has been named on a three-man shortlist of summer targets for Manchester United who are keen to sign a world class striker following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Nigerian international has become arguably Europe's most deadliest striker and has scored 12 Serie A goals for leaders, Napoli who are almost certain to win the title in Italy with the points deduction suffered by Juventus recently.
Osimhen was not able to salvage a win for Napoli in the Coppa Italia recently when they lost 5-4 on penalties to David Okereke's Cremonese.
The former Sporting Charleroi and Lille hotshot has played in 14 league matches and chalked up a total number of 1,162 minutes of playing time this season in the Serie A.
As reported by The Sun UK, Tottenham Hotspur and England captain, Harry Kane, is top of United's wishlist.
The talisman whose contract at the north London side expires at the end of next season has not won a Premier League title with Spurs despite a global acceptance that he is one of the best strikers on the planet.
The second ranked striker on the list is RB Leipzig-bound Benjamin Sesko, who has agreed a move to the German Bundesliga side from Red Bull Salzburg ahead of next season, while Osimhen is the third contender.
Current loan player from Championship side, Burnley, Wout Weghorst, according to the report, is regarded only as a stop-gap.
The Netherlands national teamer was originally loaned out to Turkish side, Besiktas, but the deal was cut short when United showed up with an interest.
