Published: February 03, 2023
Crystal Palace star Michael Olise has become the second player of Nigerian descent to win the Premier League Goal of the Month award, following in the footsteps of Chelsea academy product Ola Aina who won the award for November 2020.
The Eagles dazzler's strike against Manchester United was named as the Premier League Goal of the Month.
Olise produced a moment of magic to deny Erik ten Hag's men three points in stoppage time when he delivered a sumptuous effort over United's three-man wall and into the top corner.
Olise's free-kick goal beat Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka, Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane, Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Daniel Podence, and Brighton & Hove trio Solly March, Danny Welbeck and Kaoru Mitoma. to the prize.
He is the third Crystal Palace player to win the Premier League Goal of the Month after Andros Townsend, who won the award twice, and Wilfried Zaha.
Olise's brilliant goal against Manchester United is also up for the Crystal Palace Goal of the Month.
In the current season, the France youth teamer of Nigerian descent has scored twice in nineteen Premier League appearances while providing four assists.
