Ex-Man City defender reacts to Ndidi stamping on Martinelli’s leg after Arsenal's opener
Published: February 25, 2023Nigerian-born former Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha has had his say on Wilfred Ndidi, perhaps, accidently stamping on Gabriel Martinelli's leg in the opening minutes of the second half during Arsenal's 1-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday evening.
Martinelli's goal which proved to be the winner came at a cost, with the Arsenal number 11 requiring treatment on the pitch but thankfully, he was able to continue and even lasted the distance.
Replays showed Ndidi's foot caught Martinelli's leg as the Brazilian slotted into the bottom corner to open the scoring 51 seconds into the second half after he was picked up by Trossard.
Match referee Craig Pawson did not produce a yellow card after the incident, much to the dismay of majority of Arsenal supporters.
Onuoha has underlined that the Brazil international was genuinely injured as he didn't celebrate his goal.
Speaking on BBC's Football Focus, Onuoha commented : "If an attacker doesn't celebrate, they must be injured. Looks like he's been stood on.
"What a way to start the second half for Arsenal; very much puts Leicester on the back foot."
Today's clash against Arsenal was Ndidi's first start in the Premier League since January 14 when he went the distance in Leicester City's 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest.
