Ibadan-born striker opens goalscoring account for Bolton Wanderers

Ibadan-born striker Victor Adeboyejo scored his first goal in Bolton Wanderers colours as The Trotters secured a 2-1 win over Port Vale in an EFL League One match staged at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday evening.

The former Arsenal schoolboy arrived at Bolton Wanderers with a huge reputation after mustering 13 goals in 34 matches for Burton Albion in the first half of the season.

After firing blanks in his first five games as a Bolton Wanderers player, Adeboyejo netted a crucial equalizer in the first half against Port Vale, canceling out Ellis Harrison's opening goal.

Adeboyejo headed the ball past goalkeeper Aidan Stone after the ball was chipped into the penalty box by Randell Williams in the eighteenth minute.

The 25-year-old was also involved in the build-up to Bolton Wanderers' winning goal, teeing up Josh Sheehan, who fired home from the edge of the box in the 28th minute.

Manchester United loanee Shola Shoretire is still searching for his first senior goal; he started and was in action for 45 minutes against Port Vale, partnering Adeboyejo in attack in the first half.

Apart from Cambridge United, Adeboyejo has scored for all the other teams he has represented in his professional career, namely Barnsley, Burton Albion, Bristol Rovers and Leyton Orient.

Bolton Wanderers clocked up their 18th league win of the season against Port Vale and sit fourth in the provisional standings.
