'It was one of his best performances' - Vieira lauds Olise for display against Liverpool
Published: February 26, 2023Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira singled out Michael Olise for praise after his side's goalless draw against Liverpool in a Premier League clash at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The former Arsenal skipper highlighted that the 2021 Super Eagles invitee performed at a high level against a very strong opponent.
Vieira noted that Olise was involved in most of the team's attack and was defensively solid.
Palace could have taken the lead in the 24th minute but Guehi nodded Olise's free-kick narrowly wide and the winger also came close to breaking the deadlock but his delivery evaded the top corner.
After Eberechi Eze came off the bench for the last nineteen minutes, Palace changed formation, with Olise partnering Odsonne Edouard in attack in a 4-4-2.
Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, Vieira said : "It was one of his best performances. He was really good tactically, defensively. In possession every time he had the ball it created danger. Today he was really good."
Asked how good his number 7 can be, the French football tactician responded : "It all depends on him, how much he wants to be there with the best. He's passionate about the game. We have to help him as a club to grow."
Crystal Palace have yet to win a game in 2023 and have drawn five of their last six matches in the Premier League.
