Manchester City U21 star Mebude hits double figures for goals and assists

Dire Mebude is having another terrific season at Manchester City youth team, with the Scotland U19 international of Nigerian descent hitting double figures for goals and assists on Saturday as the Citizens thrashed Everton 5-0 in a Premier League 2 game. 

 

The former Glasgow Rangers starlet has twenty three goal involvements (13 goals, 10 assists) in 25 games across all competitions for Manchester City youth teams so far in 2022-2023 after scoring and registering an assist in the big win against the Toffees. 

 

Manchester City led 1-0 at the break thanks to Mebude, who fired past Zan-Luk Leban on the stroke of halftime. 

 

An own-goal from Elijah Campbell doubled the advantage, and then goals from Carlos Borges and Will Dickson put the result beyond all doubt, before Josh Adam wrapped up the scoring in stoppage time.

 

Dickson scored the pick of the goals in the 71st minute when he scooped the ball over three Everton defenders and into the net after he was teed up by Mebude. 

 

The Scottish-Nigerian has a total of ten goals and eight assists in the Premier League 2, has registered three goals and one assist in the UEFA Youth League and contributed directly to a goal in City's 3-2 loss to Mansfield Town in the Papa Johns Trophy back in August.

 

Mebude is provisionally cap-tied to Scotland after making his competitive debut for their U19 squad.
