Total successful dribbles PL : 2017 Super Eagles invitee second on leaderboard behind Saka
Published: February 28, 2023
When it comes to total successful dribbles in the Premier League for the 2022-2023 season, Eberechi Eze ranks second in the division, accordingly to Crystal Palace's official website.
The 2017 Super Eagles invitee is second on the leaderboard behind another player of Nigerian descent in Arsenal's cap-tied England international, Bukayo Saka.
While the Hale End Academy product has registered 41 successful dribbles this term, Eze is not far behind on 39 spread across twenty four matches.
For the sake of clarity, OPTA defines a successful dribble as 'the player beats the defender while retaining possession, unsuccessful ones are where the dribbler is tackled'.
Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli is third with 38, with Ivory Coast national teamer Wilfried Zaha fourth on 36.
Capable of playing either as an attacking midfielder or winger, Eze has made the eighth most dribbles per game in the Premier League (1.6).
Meanwhile, Eze's Crystal Palace teammate, Michael Olise has registered a team-high five assists this season.
Only Martin Ødegaard, Andreas Pereira, Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Kevin De Bruyne and Alex Iwobi have managed more than the Crystal Palace number 7.
