Championship side Middlesbrough are reportedly looking to secure the future of Nigeria-eligible striker Chuba Akpom.
The Teesiders are one of the contenders for Premier League promotion at the end of the current season and Akpom has been one of the star players for the club.
Akpom whose father is from Onitsha, Anambra state in South East Nigeria, has scored 19 goals in the Championship and one in the FA Cup, bringing his haul to 20 in 29 matches this term.
According to Football League World, the club have resolved to extend the stay of the striker who also had a stint in Greece.
Middlesbrough once had in their ranks former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and only recently, Folarin Balogun who was on loan.
They triggered a one-year extension to Akpom's contract which was due to end in the summer of 2024.
Akpom has scored a total of 16 goals since the arrival of former Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick at the club.
Boro are currently third on the Championship table with 57 points behind Burnley and Sheffield United on 76 and 64 points respectively.
