Southampton make transfer decision on Super Eagles-eligible winger
Published: March 01, 2023
English Premier League club Southampton have informed Burnley that Super Eagles-eligible winger Nathan Tella is not for sale, according to Football League World.
Tella moved to Burnley last summer on a season-long loan and he's set to return to the St. Mary's Stadium at the end of the season, as things stand.
Southampton would be delighted with Tella's form at Burnley ahead of a potential return to his parent club.
So far, the 23-year-old has 12 goals in 31 appearances in the EFL Championship, more than any other Burnley player.
Tella claimed last month that he was in the dark over his future ahead of the reopening of the transfer window in the summer.
He joined Southampton in 2017 after a ten-year association with Arsenal and his contract runs out on June 30, 2025.
Southampton wanting Tella back is an opportunity for him to make a name for himself hopefully next season in the EPL should they move out of the relegation zone.
Since making his professional debut, he has appeared in 41 matches for Southampton, scoring two goals while registering five assists.
The Saints are the basement team in the Premier League with 18 points garnered from 24 matches.
